Fresh, successful concept offers delicious menu items
J. Christopher’s is a national leader in the upscale breakfast and lunch casual dining segment. Targeting customers who appreciate fresh, high quality food, served in a friendly, comfortable environment, J. Christopher’s offers an interesting combination of traditional breakfast and lunch favorites mixed with several creative menu items flavored with a “unique” J. Christopher’s touch. A long time Atlanta favorite, J. Christopher’s will soon be opening in neighborhoods throughout the Southeast.
History
Since 1996, founders Jay McCann and Chris Brogdon steadily grew J. Christopher’s to be a leading restaurant concept in the breakfast and lunch category. There are now 20 locations, including 17 restaurants in Atlanta and three other restaurants in Franklin, Tenn., Savannah, Ga. and Tampa, Fla., with new locations being opened throughout the Atlanta market and southeast.
J. Christopher’s has continued to open several restaurants each year including four in 2007 and seven in 2008. Each restaurant has a unique personality to fit the surrounding neighborhood and offers friendly, attentive service and a quality menu including some healthy alternatives.
Expansion
In the fall of 2007, Dick Holbrook, formerly president at AFC Enterprises, and Sam Haddock, a former restaurant executive and current franchisee of Moe’s Southwest Grille and Donatos Pizza, teamed with the founders of J. Christopher’s to take the proven concept, in an unsaturated market, to new levels. This will include opening several company owned and operated restaurants, with growth primarily through franchising. Holbrook and Haddock have extensive franchising experience in award-winning operations, both as franchisees and franchisors.
Holbrook and Haddock spent a year refining the concept, assembling a talented management team and developing the necessary operations and development processes in place to grow the J. Christopher’s concept. By August 2008, all the elements were in place to begin franchising. The initial targeted areas are in the Southeast, including Atlanta, Birmingham, Ala., Charlotte, N.C. and Jacksonville, Fla. The brand also plans to grow its presence within the existing markets of Nashville, Tenn., and Tampa, Fla.
Restaurants
J. Christopher’s provides cheerful, relaxing neighborhood casual dining restaurants, which serve all the traditional breakfast favorites and a new lunch menu in a bright, contemporary setting. Along with traditional J. Christopher’s breakfast favorites such as Eggs Benedict and Golden Malted Waffles, the restaurant features a new lunch menu with unique soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers and signature skillets. All items are reasonably priced, entrees range from $6.79 to $11.79. Original artwork, from the collection of Chris Brogdon, adorns each location and adds a unique flair to the interiors of the different establishments.
Recruiting Talent
J. Christopher’s offers employees a clean environment, with no fryers, no alcoholic beverage service and convenient day-time hours. Safe working conditions and great hours create a positive culture that facilitates hiring and retaining top talent. The limited operating hours provide for greater discretionary personal time, which allows franchisees and managers to be home for dinner, attend their kid’s activities or be at the golf course by mid-afternoon.

J. Christopher’s is the winner of several ‘best of’ awards including the 2007 Atlanta’s Best Breakfast Award from the My Fox Atlanta’s Hot List.
Hours of Operation
The restaurants are open from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. every day.
Menu
J. Christopher’s serves signature dishes that include omelets, pancakes, sandwiches, salads and soups. Patrons can look forward to seasonal items on the menu, like the Farmer’s Omelet in the summertime or the Pumpkin pancakes during the fall and winter months.
J. Christopher’s is also serving a new lunch menu that includes J. Christopher’s Bistro Salad, Signature Burgers and J’s Classic Club Sandwich. J. Christopher’s always looks for high-quality ingredients to provide the healthiest and most delicious foods to its guests.
